Open Bachelor and Master Projects

 

Presently we have numerous projects open, waiting for enthusiastic students to conduct present and past climate science either through experiments or the construction and use of models.

There are projects on future mass spectrometric developments for example the use of 231Pa/235U dating, or the development of Li-isotope measurements. Other projects involve the study of stable carbon and oxygen isotopes in cold-water corals and speleothems to reconstruct past climate conditions. We also seek to strengthen our ability towards process and climate modelling. We are an international team of scientists so be prepared to travel and work with collegues in France the UK or US in cases. We also have projects at the interface of other disciplines the earth Sciences or Archeology and we closely work with the research team on green house gases and water isotopes (M. Schmidt) and the isotopologue team (T. Kluge)

Teaching information

 

Our team helds lectures, tutorials, seminars, and practical exercises in both physics and geology (geochemistry). Teaching spans the use of statistics, the use of radionuclides and geochemical proxies, and geochronology in the earth sciences. Here the future focus will be on the master module 'environmental physics'. In Physics, we are involved in physics tutorials, general environmental physics with respect to lectures, tutorials, seminars, and practical exercises. The expertice spans master lectures 'Aquatic Systems' and 'Climate Physics'. We cover the special teaching areas of the 'Physics and Geochemistry of Environmental Archives' and the use of 'Ocean Tracers'. Finally, much of the energy in teaching goes into the numerous bachelor-, and master- projects that we supervise (see list below). If you are searching for a study project get in touch with us.
